The problem

The problem we identified as being the most annoying in Bucharest is traffic. Day by day the city is getting more and more crowded with cars that are making the transportation from A to B slower and are also hurting the environment.

Our solution

Our solution aims to reduce traffic congestion by encouraging the rental of small and electric cars with zero CO2 emissions, which are easy to drive and park.

The cars can be found and used through a mobile app by simply scanning a QR code.

Customer segment

Our customer segment is represented by the inhabitants of Bucharest. Any person who holds a driving licence for B or B1 class (people from the age of 16) can rent our cars for a trip.

Competition

We have 3 main competitors:

  • Lime and Flow - electric scooters
  • eGo - accesible only through BCR credit card
  • Spark - bigger cars

Our advantage over competition

What we bring to the table are smaller cars that can be driven by people from 16 years old and the posibility to pay with any credit card.

From our survey it seems that the bigger the car, the more affraid people are to rent it. That's where the little and adorable Twizy comes in play.

Key Metrics
  • User engagement - value found by users in our app
  • User retention - how likely is for a user to stick with our app
  • Return on marketing spendings - how efficient a marketing campaign is
  • Customer satisfaction - how satisfied are our customers
The costs

  • Tracking system for cars

Revenue streams

  • Ride fees - 2RON start + 1.5RON/min
  • In app ads
  • In app memberships - granting no ads and certain discounts

Problem Identification

After analyzing the existing market and already existing car/scooter sharing apps, we arrived at the conclusion that the urban traffic in Bucharest could benefit most from our share based transportation alternative:

  • first of all from an ecological point of view, given the fact that the cars are electric and also easy to charge and drive
  • second of all, our cars can be driven by any citizen over 16 years old with B1 driving license
  • our cars are smaller that the usual/existing electric car sharing alternatives
Problem Solution

Implementing a car sharing mobile app that will bring on the Romanian Market the posibility of renting an electric car by any person over 16 years old, by simply scanning the QR code available on the car at an accesible price.

Customer Discovery

We proved our point by submiting a validation form to various citizens. Our form was answered by 15 persons. Also, we tried to interview few people in order to find out their opinions regarding our app idea/solution.

Focus Groups

The form was answered by mainly young persons over 16 years old that are already using/have used in the past a traffic sharing application.

Market research
Size of the targeted market

Our target market is represented by all the citizens of Bucharest that are over 16 years old & are in the possession of the B1/B driving license category.

Our customers are represented by students/employees that are using car sharing applications and services on a daily basis and are looking for a new and innovative way of transportation for their daily trips to work or school.

scanIT initial target market is represented by citizens of the capital urban area of Romania. The car sharing domain is raising in popularity everyday, as more and more people regardless of age are starting to choose this method of transportation over the public/personal transport.

Aproximate number of players

In this way, our business targets up to 1 million Romanian citizens from Bucharest that own a driving license (category B) plus aprox. 190.000 minor citizens (with ages between 16 years old and 18) that own a driving license category B1.

We plan to further develop our business in other major urban areas of Romania. We also plan to extend to the European market in the distant future if the business evolution riches a higher level.
